Brother

Brother: among religious orders of men, non-ordained clerics are referred to as brothers. Like religious order priests, these men take vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience. They also live in the community and help in various ministerial capacities. But their role is circumscribed by the fact that they cannot perform sacramental ministry, such as celebrating Mass or hearing confession.
